Supportive Technologies

Learning Management Systems: Blackboard & Canvas

Used to host and deliver educational content and courses.

More Info
  • Allow retakes to support mastery of course content: create multiple versions of each test (students can retake an exam several times with different questions gathered from questions pools and random blocks)

  • Teach students at different levels: Can pre-populate course content so students at different learning objectives can access their relevant content. Students can create their own learning experience as they master content to meet specific learning objectives

  • Prepare quizzes at different levels in advance: once students reach a level of mastery and want to take a test, they can find the assessment for the learning objective they want to attempt.

  • Structure the learning path using Canvas Module with pre-requisite and requirements to set the essential objectives/activities to move on the next learning.

  • Learning Management Systems allows to create a repository of assessments and rubrics that can be easily accessed and shared with different faculty and to customize them to meet their needs.

  • Show students their progress of learning and achievement via Grades

  • Allows instructor to track student progress and token students earn (if uses token options) via Grades

Peer-Led Learning Groups

Students teach and learn from others who are at the same level of knowledge as them.

More Info

Peer led learning groups allow students to teach and learn from others who are at the same level of knowledge as them. It may be easier for a student to learn and master content from a peer who is coming to the information with similar levels of background knowledge and using relatable language, rather than from an expert (the instructor).

Blackboard/Canvas Discussion and Groups:

  • Discussion allows students to engage in discussion by posting and commenting on peer’s post

OneDrive/Google Suite:

  • An environment for student collaboration on problem solving to improve their learning together or project building to demonstrate mastery on specific topic

Piazza, Zoom, Perusall:

  • Piazza is a platform for instructors to manage class Q&A and to increase student peer-to-peer learning

  • Perusall is a social annotation tool that allows students and the instructor to collaboratively make-up in a document and to build social presence in the online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses.

Rubric-Based Grading:
Gradescope, Blackboard & Canvas Assignment Rubrics

Aenean feugiat dui tristique tincidunt finibus. Maecenas a volutpat ipsum.

More Info

  • Rubrics helps all graders to have same standard and uniformity on grading student’s work when there are more than one grader are involved
